Rogues are one of 10 classes you can choose from in WoW. A Rogue wields melee weapons and can dish out loads of
damage by using special abilities.
Most of the attacks a Rogue can make consume an amount of Energy. The Energy meter of the Rogue can be found
near the health bar of the Rogue and it shows you how much Energy you have.
Rogues can have a maximum of 100 Energy if you do not count in the talent points and the Energy recovers in
time. As an Alliance players you will be able to make a Gnome, Dwarf, Human and Night Elf Rogue and as a Horde
player you will be able to choose between the Orc, Troll, Blood Elf and Undead races. Rogues are very popular
especially among players that want to entertain themselves by fighting with the other faction.
Because they can stealth they have an advantage over their enemies. When a Rogue is stealthed he has several
abilities at his disposal which can only be used when stealthed and once he makes his move he will unstealth and
get several new moves he can make.
The majority of the attacks the Rogues can make award them with combo points. In total you can place five combo
points on a target. Besides the attacks that award combo points Rogues also have access to several finishing moves
which do more damage, stun longer etc. when the target has more combo points on it. If in example you have five
combo points on your target your finishing moves will have a lot of effect.
WoW Rogue Leveling Guide
Let it be clear that Rogues can’t heal and can’t tank. They are pure damage dealers that can end up high on the
damage lists. If you want to be on top of the damage list you should know the class well. In this case it means
knowing all your attacks and when to use which ones, knowing the talent trees by heart and knowing which ones to
choose, which stats you should have on your gear etc.
Probably the most important aspect are the talent trees. Rogues can choose between the Assassination, Combat and
Subtlety talent trees. If you are leveling a Rogue you should choose the Combat talent tree. The Combat talent tree
will provide the Rogue with talents which make him harder to kill and he will also obtain attacks that will boost
his damage like Ghost Strike.
Because the Rogue will get more Parry and Dodge rating he will lose less health and because it also boost the
offhand damage and crit and hit rating leveling becomes much easier.
Once you hit your level cap you and want to play PvE, the Assasination tree is great for you. The Assasination
tree specializes in Backstab and other powerful attacks. Most talents are based on attacking from behind which
makes it less good for soloing. If you have an enemy that is turnwed towards the tank however, you can attack the
target from behind and spam your attacks to make amazing amounts of damage.
If you like to play PvP you should try out the Subtlety talent tree. With it you will get access to talents that
will allow you to do a lot of burst damage. If you play PvE you want to do more damage over time so Subtlety is
less useful there.
