Lockpicking is skill available only to the Rogue class. When he reaches level 16, a Rogue can train
the lockpicking ability called Pick Lock with his class trainer. With this ability he will be able to open locked
footlockers, chests, doors and lockboxes which are a random drop from mobs and bosses.
Is Lockpicking a profession?
Lockpicking operates similar to any other profession. It can be trained and then skilled to the
maximum. A maximum skill in Lockpicking will allow a Rogue to open everything that’s
locked.
How can I raise my Lockpicking skill?
The answer to this question is simple. A Rogue can raise his skill only by picking locks. The
leveling works same as with gathering professions like Mining or Herbalism. You need to find locks that are near
your current lockpicking level in order to skillup. However, Lockpicking isn’t quite easy to level up but a great
help with this will be your Rogue trainer who can point you to certain areas where you can find
footlockers.
Rogues are considered to be characters that live in shadows. Most of their time, Rogues are in
stealth or sneaking. This makes them perfect robbers and treasure hunters. They can sneak near some guarded chest,
unlock it and take the treasure. Hiding is their main asset and advantage.
Special features
There is only one thing that can enhance your Lockpicking skill - Dark Leather Gloves. These gloves
are created with Leatherworking and can increase your Lockpicking skill by additional 5 points.
Dark Leather Gloves are also very useful since they are able to reduce the chance that your
lockpicking attempt will fail and they also contribute to a better range of your skill.
Is there any alternative to Lockpicking?
If you can’t find a Rogue skilled enough to unlock a lockbox for you or if you just found a chest in
an instance and there is no Rogues in your group, you will have several alternatives.
Blacksmiths can make different Skeleton keys which can also unlock locks. There are 4 different
Skeleton key recipes available to any Blacksmith at his profession trainer. Each of these recipes can create two
keys.Engineers are also able to use Seaforium Charges in the purpose of opening
locked doors and unlocking the chests.
Should a Rogue charge for his
skill?
This solely depends on a Rogue himself. If he is
offering his services via in-game Trade Channel then he will probably say if he is doing it for free or for a small
fee. In most cases you won’t see many Rogues offering their Lockpicking skill.
Asking for
assistance
If you happen to have many of the lockboxes in
your possession and you are wondering what might be inside find a guild mate with Lockpicking and ask him if he can
do it for you.
If there is nobody available in your guild or none
of your Rogue friends have Lockpicking skilled up, you can ask any friendly player you come across in the city.
Make sure you ask first if he can or wants to do it for you before trading him.
What can be found in the
lockboxes?
Various uncommon, rare or even epic items can be
found in different lockboxes as well as recipes, patterns and mats.
Here is a list of Junkboxes you
can get with Pick Pocket. You can train your lockpicking skill with these too, however in this Lockpicking
guide, we will only use Footlockers and Doors.

The Rogue poisons quests for Horde and Alliance
are the best and easiest way to level up to 170. If you've already finished the quest, you can still use the
chests to gain skill, but the chests don't highlight when you mouse over them, so you have to search for your
lockpicking skill first in your Spellbook and then click the chest.

Alliance:
[Duskwood Chest] - Westfall
170 - 225

can try to Pick Pocket mobs too, because the [Sturdy Junkbox] you will find turns grey only at
275.
[Dented Footlocker] - There are two kind of Footlockers with the same name, one of them turns
green at 250, the other turns green at 275
250 - 300
Go to Tyr's Hand in Eastern Plaguelands.
Pickpocket the mobs and find all of the [Scarlet Footlockers]. In the time it takes to take a full circle of Tyr's

they drop [Strong Junkbox].
