The World of Warcraft Priest Leveling Guide
Of the various classes that are present in Warcraft, priests are of great use due to their healing abilities. In recent years there have been many changes that have been brought forward to their abilities making them more useful than before.
In addition to the traditional holy priest, which is very capable in direct healing, priests also have the ability to utilize their shadow talent specialization. This specialization allows a priest to perform a large amount of damage on the enemy, rather than directly healing the group, and still provide a level of support to their peers. This is because a percentage of their damage interprets into health and mana for their group, making them a valuable DPS class.
Shadows priests also have the ability to cause fear in their targets, which can both be very useful and very detrimental to a group, depending on how it is used. Fearing a target causes it run around aimlessly away from you, but doing so can cause other nearby creatures to become aware of you. Doing this unintelligently can cause your group to quickly become overwhelmed. When playing a priest, you have to be aware of the benefits of macros and understand spell rotations. It would be wise to try several different strategies and experiment with which one works best for your play style.
The one disadvantage of being a Shadow priest at level 80 is that they will be deprived of casting holy spells as it would result in their losing their shadow form. They can however shift back to their shadow form, but it would result in loss of mana. With the latest dual specialization priests no longer need to shift to perform holy or shadow spells, and can aid their groups in their quest and hunt.
With the addition of dual specialization, priests have become very effective as a DPS and healing class. Shadow priests are the most effective for questing and solo play, while holy priests continue to have a high demand in groups and raids.
Due to their healing and dps abilities, priests have been highly popular in among Warcraft players, thereby making it quite important to know how to level priests.
