WoW Warlock Basics Guide
The following World of Warcraft warlock guide will attempt to communicate to you all you will need to understand to begin the warlock class. Warlocks are supreme masters of the dark arts with the ability to control fire, shadows and demons. The spells available to the warlock class are primarily focused on causing agonizing pain and suffering. They are able to hurl powerful spells from a distance, but are not good at fighting up close because they don’t have any real physical protection. Several talents depend on the use of soul shards, which warlocks have to obtain from killing enemies. The warlock class is easy to level quickly due to the fact that they’re extremely self sufficient when soloing. They are oftentimes among the top damage dealing classes when in a party.
The warlock class is a choice that is only available to the Blood Elf, Gnome, Human, Orc, and Undead races. Warlocks may only wear cloth armor, like many of the other caster character types. As for weapons, warlocks restricted to staves, daggers, wands, and some swords.
Warlocks are best known for their ability to summon and control a variety of demonic minions including Doomguards, Felguards, Felhunters, Imps, Infernals, Succubi, and Voidwalkers. Each of the various minions are useful, but you will have to measure the strong suits of each of them for the task at hand. Warlocks possess a wide array of spells at their disposal including DoT’s, direct damage spells, and some useful utility spells. They can make use of soul shards to conjure several useful items and also to perform resurrection on other players. Other abilities include self healing via drain life, and crowd control (CC) with the fear line of spells. Since warlocks can get their mounts through quests, they save lots of gold that most other classes are forced to pay.
The Affliction talent tree relies heavily on drains, curses, and DoT’s. For raiding or farming, this is an excellent talent spec to take. Affliction is arguably the best specialization for leveling quickly.
Demonology talents are meant to make summoned demonic minions more powerful and more effective, as well as enhancing conjuring spells and giving you other passive bonuses. This is a great specialization for PvP, leveling, and overall survivability. This talent tree can be utilized at lower levels to make up for a lack of good spell damage equipment.
Destruction talents focus on improving most shadow and fire spells and making your warlock a powerful direct damage dealer. For Destruction, it’s all about high DPS and huge criticals. The Destruction spec is better utilized much later in the game, as it is hard to stay alive long enough to use it effectively at lower levels. Although you can cause great damage, there are some downsides to this specialization that need to be taken into account. You’ll need a bunch of soul shards, you will go through mana really quickly, and playing solo will be incredibly difficult. Though on the flip side, it is really fun.
